Job summary

St. Luke’s University Health Network in Allentown, PA seeks a Mental Health Crisis Intervention Specialist to perform comprehensive crisis assessments in the Emergency Department and Walk-In Center, coordinating admission and referrals to appropriate levels of care.

The role requires collaborating with physicians, advanced practitioners and BH staff, maintaining knowledge of Mental Health regulations, and applying de‑escalation techniques and, when needed, safety precautions to protect patients

Qualifications

• Minimum one of mental health credential or relevant licensure.
• Experience in crisis intervention in hospital settings preferred.
• Ability to coordinate admissions/referrals across teams.

Responsibilities

• Conduct intake assessments for patients in ED/Walk-In Center.
• Coordinate admission/referral decisions and level of care.
• Collaborate with physicians, BH staff and other teams to ensure smooth patient flow.
• Demonstrate knowledge of mental health regulations related to patient rights and admission status.
