Job summary

Banner Estrella Medical Center seeks a Health Unit Coordinator to provide administrative support in the Emergency Department. The role facilitates communication among physicians, nurses, and staff, handles admissions, discharges, and patient records, and coordinates appointments and tests.

Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 6am–6:30pm with weekend/holiday rotation. Weekend differential of $1/hour and an 18% night shift differential are offered, along with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
• 1 year of medical clerical experience; hospital/physician office preferred.
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal/communication skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and basic computer literacy required.
• Proficiency with standard office software and keyboarding.
• Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card for specific hospital settings; Arizona Criminal History Affidavit required.

Responsibilities

• Performs receptionist/clerical duties to support department efficiency and communication.
• Processes patient admissions, records, bed assignments, and labels; orders outside records.
• Maintains complete patient records with admissions, transfers, discharges, and progress notes.
• Coordinates patient appointments and procedures prior to discharge.
• Maintains supplies and equipment; manages requisitions and stock levels.
• Interacts with physicians, nurses, and other staff; liaises with internal/external contacts.
