Job summary

Banner Health's Banner University Medical Center - Tucson is seeking a Health Unit Coordinator to provide essential administrative support in the Emergency Center. This entry-level role promotes organized, efficient patient care and facilitates communication among physicians, nurses, patients, and departments on a Day shift, including weekends and holidays on a rotating basis.

You will work with a self-scheduling tool and receive weekend differential of $1/hour and an 18% night shift

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year medical clerical experience, preferably in hospital or physician office setting.
• Strong organizational, human relations and communication skills.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology and computer literacy required.
• Must possess keyboarding skills and familiarity with commonly used office software.

Responsibilities

• Perform receptionist/clerical duties to support overall operating efficiency and communication.
• Process patient admissions and bed assignments, print labels, and order outside records.
• Maintain complete patient records with admission, transfer and discharge information; ensure chart forms are filed and accessible.
• Coordinate patient appointments for procedures and treatments prior to discharge.
• Maintain supplies and reconcile supply orders; ensure equipment is tracked and accounted for.
• Interact with patients, families, physicians, nurses and other staff to ensure smooth operations.
• Work under local supervision in a fast-paced environment with a strong focus on customer service.
