Job summary

CentraCare Monticello Emergency Department seeks a Health Unit Coordinator to act as the communication hub for the unit. You will greet and assist patients and families, handle calls, organize patient charts, and perform clerical duties to support care.

This role features a part-time schedule with night shifts (12 hours) from 7pm to 7:30am, onsite, including every 3rd weekend and rotating holidays. Starting pay is $19.42/hr with progression based on experience.

Qualifications

• One year completion of a hospital unit secretary program (or willingness to obtain within one year of employment) preferred.
• One-year clerical experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Self-directed and ability to multi-task.
• Strong interpersonal human relations skills and ability to communicate effectively in English.

Responsibilities

• Greeting and assisting patients, families, guests, and providers, serving as the communication link for the unit.
• Managing telephone communications for the Emergency Department.
• Organizing and maintaining patient charts.
• Performing clerical and receptionist duties to support patient care.
