Mount Sinai Health System in New York is seeking a Staff Nurse for the Emergency Department Float Pool at Mount Sinai West. The role offers a full-time day shift (7am to 7:30pm) with every other weekend.

You will assess, diagnose, plan, and intervene for assigned patients and participate in discharge planning and care coordination. Required BSN (or RN with ADN pursuing BSN), active NY RN license, and certifications including Neonatal Resuscitation Program, ACLS, BCLS, and PALS.

Responsabilités

• Conducts nursing assessment based on interview, examination, observation and review of records.
• Ensures patient progress is reflected in progress notes and revised care plans.
• Discharge planning aligned with patient status and inter-departmental communication.
• Communicates information to patients based on their level of understanding.
• Supports orientation of new staff by mentoring and providing feedback.
• Functions as a professional role model and mentor for students and volunteers.
• Distributes patient care assignments considering patient needs and staff capabilities.
• Organizes care delivery to meet priority needs of patients and the unit.
• Relays patient and unit status requiring leadership intervention.
• Participates in staff development and education.
• Peers' appraisal of practice and collaborative nursing actions.
• Collaborates with other disciplines to meet patient and unit needs.
• Aligns with Department of Nursing and Mount Sinai Hospital Center goals.
• Provides direction, assistance and support as needed.
• Assumes accountability for completion and quality of tasks.
• Identifies need for staff education and communicates to leadership.
• Engages nursing leaders as role models and resources.
