Job summary

Mount Sinai West in New York, NY seeks a Staff Nurse for the Emergency Department Float Pool. This full-time day shift runs 7am to 7:30pm, with every other weekend. Responsibilities include comprehensive nursing assessment, care planning, discharge planning, patient education, mentoring staff, and coordinating inter-departmental care.

The role requires a BSN, an active RN license, and certifications in NRP, ACLS, BLS, and PALS. Telemetry experience is highly preferred for this position.

Qualifications

• RN licensure and BSN required.
• Med/Surg Telemetry experience preferred.
• Neonatal Resuscitation, ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Conducts nursing assessment based on interview, examination, observation and review of records of the patient.
• Ensures patient progress is reflected in progress notes and revised care plans.
• Discharge planning aligned with patient status and inter-departmental communication.
• Educates patient based on readiness to learn.
• Preceptor and mentor for new staff; supports orientation of team members.
• Directs, assists and supports assigned tasks to ensure quality care.
• Coordinates care to meet priority needs of patients and unit.
• Communicates with leadership when additional intervention is needed.
