Qualifications

• Current Basic EMT or Paramedic license in state of practice.
• EMTs working in an Emergency Department in the state of Colorado, national certification or state EMT license is acceptable.
• Basic Life Support (BLS-HCP) Certification for Healthcare Providers upon hire.
• IV certification required upon hire.
• Colorado: EMT-Basic must have state approved IV certification at the time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patients' vital signs and inform changes to RNs or physicians.
• Collect blood, urine, saliva, and stool samples for lab analysis.
• Insert Foley catheters, perform straight catheterizations, and provide wound care.
• Perform 12-lead EKGs and assist with instruments during procedures.
• Assist with safe patient handling and movement of patients.
• Assist with admitting patients to the ER and schedule transfers; reinforce education and discharge instructions.
• Apply and check restraints as directed.
• Perform unit secretary duties: maintain patient charts, respond to calls, manage assignment board, and handle equipment and errands.
