Job summary

Qualifications

• Current EMT or Paramedic license in Colorado
• EMTs working in an Emergency Department in Colorado; national or state EMT license acceptable
• BLS-Certificate for Healthcare Providers upon hire
• IV certification required upon hire (Colorado: EMT-Basic must have state-approved IV certification at time of hire)

Responsibilities

• Obtain vital signs and communicate changes to RNs/Physicians
• Collect specimens (blood, urine, etc.) for analysis
• Insert Foley catheters, perform straight catheterizations, wound care, fit casts and splints
• Perform 12-lead EKGs and support procedures
• Assist with safe patient movement and transfers
• Assist with admitting patients, scheduling transfers, and discharge instructions
• Apply and check restraints as directed
• Serve as unit secretary: maintain patient charts, calls, boards, equipment, and documentation
• Adhere to infection prevention standards
