Job summary

Qualifications

• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in Indiana; BSN required.
• Maintain BLS or CPR for Healthcare Providers.
• First line management experience preferred.
• One year of emergency or critical care nursing experience.
• Must obtain ACLS or ALS within six months of hire.
• Must complete TNCC/ENPC or PALS within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Interviewing and selecting staff for patient care unit.
• Provide leadership and direction with the Manager.
• Communicate issues and positive situations from each shift.
• Support professional growth and development of staff.
• Participate in performance evaluations of staff.
• Counsel employees and manage disciplinary processes as appropriate.
• Supervise staff and student nurses on shift.
• Determine staffing mix based on budgeted hours and patient acuity.
• Assign duties based on patient unit needs and staff expertise.
• Oversee supplies for emergency and routine nursing care.
• Collaborate with ancillary services to ensure a safe environment.
• Maintain budgetary limits in operating expense and FTE.
• Facilitate open communication across shifts and departments.
• Provide orientation to emergency procedures and disaster plans.
• Contribute to patient care policy and standards of care.
• Evaluate patient care and administer nursing care as needed.
