Job summary

HCA Florida Palms West Hospital is seeking a Charge Nurse in the Emergency Department to lead the unit, coordinate patient care, and support staff through scheduling and performance management. The CNC will champion patient-first care and collaborate with the leadership team to sustain high clinical standards.

This role emphasizes throughput, quality assessment, and a collaborative work environment, aligning with our mission to deliver exceptional emergency services and outcomes.

Qualifications

• ACLS certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• RN - Registered Nurse
• Associate Degree required

Responsibilities

• Assists with admission and discharge processes to ensure efficient throughput and high quality, patient-centered care.
• Participates in ongoing assessment of the quality of patient care services in the unit.
• Collaborates with managers to create a teamwork-focused environment for improved outcomes.
• Supports a patient-first philosophy and engages in service recovery when necessary.
• Supports nursing strategies, including employee rounding and hourly rounds, to improve engagement.
• Provides recommendations on interviewing, selecting, and training staff and on performance evaluations.
• Assists with staff scheduling and manages labor to meet patient care needs.
• Supports inventory control and equipment supplies management
