Job summary

T J Samson Community Hospital is seeking an Emergency Department Technician to perform designated care tasks under the supervision of the ED nurse and physician. The role includes venipuncture, EKGs, vital signs, and assisting with patient admissions, transfers and discharges.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, current CPR certification, and preferred experience in EMT, nurse aide, cardiology or phlebotomy.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Current CPR certification is required.
• One year of clinical experience in EMT, Nurse Assistant, cardiology or phlebotomy preferred.
• Must be emotionally mature and able to function under stress.

Responsibilities

• Takes and records vital signs accurately within established time frame, notifying RN/physician of any abnormal observations.
• Assists patient with meals and feeding.
• Collects specimens according to policy and transports patients as assigned.
• Performs venipuncture and specimen collection according to department guidelines.
• Assists with patient exams and treatments as needed and manages calls and messages.
