Job summary

Yale New Haven Health seeks an Emergency Department Technician to assist nurses and physicians in delivering patient care in a high-demand ED environment. Responsibilities include phlebotomy, EKG-related tasks, basic splinting, and data collection of vital signs and pain.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, ER Tech or EMT training, or active student nurse clinical experience. CPR preferred; orientation will cover ongoing education and equipment validations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • ER Tech training or EMT training or student nurse with clinical experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide patient care in fast-paced settings.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts patient care under the direction of the RN and assists with direct patient care.
  • Performs non-sterile treatments and basic procedures as listed (e.g., cold compresses, splints, dressings).
  • Performs specimen collection and phlebotomy with proper labeling and patient verification.
  • Demonstrates respectful interpersonal interactions in all contacts.
  • Engages in mandatory training and educational activities.
  • Assists in orienting new Clinical Technicians and supports management turnout.
