Job summary

Mount Carmel Health System in Columbus, OH is seeking an Emergency Department Technician to provide patient care in a fast-paced ED. You will work three 12-hour evening shifts per week from 10am - 10:30pm with rotating weekends and holidays, assisting with trauma, stroke, and resuscitation efforts.

The role includes phlebotomy, EKGs, wound care, specimen collection, vital signs, and timely reporting of changes to RNs and physicians.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of basic patient care skills, EKG phlebotomy, and BLS.
• Previous patient care experience preferred.
• Effective communication skills required.

Responsibilities

• Responds to patient needs in a timely manner.
• Transportation and patient escort.
• Performs visual acuity, eye irrigation and equipment setups.
• Performs phlebotomy and lab specimen collection as ordered.
• Supports trauma, stroke, heart and sepsis alerts and resuscitation.
• Performs wound care and sterile technique when appropriate.
• Removes sutures/staples (excluding facial region).
• Performs Foley care and collects specimens.
• Performs EKG and phlebotomy.
• Collects and documents patient data and vital signs.
• Reports observations to RN/physician promptly.
