Job summary

Mount Carmel Health System seeks an Emergency Department Technician to provide compassionate patient care in the Dublin ED. The role involves 12-hour day shifts (7am–7:30pm) with rotating weekends and holidays, and duties spanning phlebotomy, EKGs, wound care, and vital signs monitoring.

Candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent; completion of approved basic patient care courses including EKG/phlebotomy and BLS is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Approved course(s) including basic patient care skills, EKG phlebotomy, and BLS are required.
• Previous patient care experience and/or technical health field education is preferred.
• Effective communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Responds to patient needs in a timely manner.
• Transportation and patient escort.
• Performs visual acuity, eye irrigation, and equipment setup.
• Performs phlebotomy and lab specimen collection as ordered.
• Assist in trauma, stroke, heart and sepsis alerts and resuscitation protocols.
• Performs wound care and sterile technique when needed.
• Performs suture and staple removal, excluding facial region.
• Performs Foley care and specimen collection.
• Performs EKG and phlebotomy.
• Collects and documents patient data such as vital signs.
• Reports observations and condition changes to RN/physician promptly.
