Job summary

Seattle YMCA is seeking an Inclusion Director to lead a team providing direct support to campers with additional needs at our seasonal camp.

The role focuses on Mental, Emotional and Social Health, ensuring safety and an inclusive environment while supervising Camper Support Coordinators. This Authorized Driver position requires commitment to equity and strong collaboration with families and staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in relevant program or equivalent education or experience.
• Two years or more of related experience, with proven experience in training others.
• One or more years of experience with staff and volunteer supervision and program development.
• Experience with and knowledge of youth behavior management and child abuse prevention.
• Ability to relate to parents and campers in a professional manner.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and assists with camper supervision. Ensures that all staff are accounting for campers and safety at all times, especially campers who need extra support.
• Works closely with unit directors, assistant directors, medical team staff, and cabin counselors providing resources, suggestions, and direct support for campers who need extra attention due to behavior, health (mental and physical), or life circumstance.
• Communicates directly with parents, guardians, or case workers pro- and re-actively to gain tips for working with specific campers and to give updates on the campers' experience.
• Maintains detailed reports and accounts of all work with campers, families, and staff.
• Assists as a member of the leadership team with plans, schedules, and facilitates program activities that are developmentally appropriate and which promote camper skill and character development.
• Organizes, leads, and assists with facilitation of all-camp special events.
• Supervises assigned seasonal staff by observing, coaching, providing feedback and assisting with problem solving.
• Maintains safety and cleanliness standards. Takes special note of individual camper/staff health needs or concerns on a daily basis.
