Job summary

YMCA of Greater Seattle is seeking a Camp & Outdoor Leadership staffer to supervise a group of staff and campers at a seasonal residential camp in Washington. The role emphasizes safety, inclusive programming, and positive role modeling for kids and families.

Responsibilities include planning activities, supervising cabin staff, and supporting teen leaders while adhering to YMCA policies and athletic safety standards. Enthusiastic teamwork and willingness to live onsite are required.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older and able to participate in outdoor activities.
• Current state approved first aid certification required.
• Current state approved CPR certification required.
• High school graduate or equivalent.
• One or more years of college preferred.
• Previous camp experience preferred.
• Ability to participate in rigorous physical activity outdoors (hiking, boating, camping, swimming).
• Other combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Supervises a group of staff and campers ensuring accountability and safety at all times.
• Plans, schedules, and facilitates developmentally appropriate activities and leads all-camp events.
• Provides supervision and feedback to cabin counselor staff.
• Leads developing teen leaders placed with the group.
• Maintains safety and cleanliness standards and addresses camper health needs daily.
• Ensures counselors plan cabin activities and participate in daily activities.
• Attends director meetings and trainings and follows YMCA policies including safety and abuse prevention.
• Other duties as assigned.
