This position announcement is for Equipment Operator Sr - Fleet Roadside Assistance, a full-time Civil Service position in General Services. This position is located in the Office of Fleet Management division of the Department of General Services and is responsible for operating various types of large complex vehicles and equipment associated with roadside assistance, as well as performing other skilled and unskilled labor functions. Responsibilities include operating heavy and light duty wreckers, tire trucks, salt trucks, forklifts, and other equipment necessary for roadside assistance, recovery, and vehicle transportation. Performs related duties as required.
The men and women in Metro’s General Services Department ensure the smooth operation of city functions, including vehicle maintenance, building upkeep, and printing services, supporting other Metro departments in achieving their missions.
Minimum qualifications include an eighth-grade education and one year of verifiable experience operating gasoline or diesel-powered equipment or vehicles. *Substitutions are not considered for this position.*
License Required: Valid Class B or higher Commercial Driver License.
During the 6-month probationary/training period, the incumbent must demonstrate proficiency in driving and operating equipment, including hydraulics, Rollbacks, Boom, Tire and Autoloader Wreckers, and reading maps and directions. Failure to meet these requirements may result in termination.
