Job summary

Sims Limited in Houston seeks an experienced material handler to operate heavy equipment (grapple/magnet, front end loader, skid steer, or forklift) and assist unloading customers while loading trailers for transport of scrap materials. You will inspect incoming material and grade accordingly.

Responsibilities include starting and operating equipment, performing routine maintenance, and completing pre-use inspections. Safety and accuracy are essential for all tasks.

Qualifications

• Experience operating heavy equipment such as grapple, magnet, loader, forklift or skid steer.
• Ability to inspect material and perform safety checks.
• Must pass pre-employment physical and drug screen.
• Must be able to read and comprehend instructions and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload customer trucks/vehicles.
• Start engine, shift gears, operate loader safely.
• Perform routine maintenance on equipment (lubrication, fueling, cleaning).
• Complete inspection reports prior to use.
• Maintain safety for customers and employees in work area.
• Follow directions and perform other duties as assigned.

Job Summary:

Operates material handler (grapple/magnet), front end loader, skid steer, or forklift to assist unloading customers and load trailers to prepare for transport of scrap materials. Inspects incoming material and grades accordingly.

Operates straight or articulated rubber-tired tractor type vehicle equipped with front mounted hydraulic powered bucket or forks to lift and transport bulk material to and from storage or processing areas by performing the following duties:

Primary Responsibilities:

• Load and unload customer’s trucks/vehicles.
• Starts engine, shift gears, presses pedals, and turns steering wheel to operate loader.
• Performs routine maintenance on loader such as lubricating, fueling, and cleaning.
• Completes inspection report prior to using equipment.
• Responsible for customer & employee safety in and around work area.
• Other duties as assigned.

• 3 to 5 years’ experience working Heavy Equipment
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Must pass pre-employment physical and drug screen.
• Must be able to comfortably wear a respirator.
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions, procedures, correspondence, & memos.
• Ability to speak and understand English.
