Job summary

City and County of Denver is seeking an Equipment Operator II for the Wastewater System Maintenance team. This on-site role handles catch basin cleaners, sewer jet cleaners, and snowplows, with a CDL-B required.

You’ll perform pre- and post-trip inspections, support routine truck maintenance, and work Monday–Friday 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM with potential extended hours for snow events. CDL Tanker endorsement needed within 6 months.

Qualifications

  • Three (3) years general labor experience, including two (2) years operating light to medium equipment.
  • Valid CDL-B with endorsements at time of application; tanker endorsement within 6 months of hire.
  • English language proficiency required for public interactions and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Operate catch basin cleaners (VAC truck), sewer jet cleaners, and snowplows.
  • Perform pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and basic maintenance.
  • Be the single operator for assigned routes and maintain safety practices.
  • Assist with routine truck maintenance and sewer/storm facility clearing.

Our crew(s) on standby will respond on weekends and holidays to emergencies. Broadly, our crews are dispatched on routine routes to clean sewer and storm facilities.Specifically, as an Equipment Operator II, you will:* Operate specialized vehicles, such as catch basin cleaners (VAC truck), sewer jet cleaners, and snowplows (Samsara Dash Camera installed on all vehicles).* Perform pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections.* Perform basic vehicle maintenance (greasing, etc.).* Act as the single operator responsible for completing assigned routes.* Be responsible for maintaining safety and safe work habits.* Assist and oversee routine truck maintenance, moving of containers, and assisting with sewer and storm facility clearing.* Perform other duties as assigned.**What You’ll Bring**Our ideal candidate has some or all the following experience, skills, and characteristics:* Experience acting as a lead for a team and/or strong leadership abilities/characteristics.* Strong communications skills.* Self-motivated team player with strong work ethic who is eager to learn.*Applicants for commercial driving positions must demonstrate proficiency in the English language.
