Job summary

City of Toledo is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator 2 for multiple divisions including Water Reclamation and Road & Bridge Maintenance. The role requires operating a wide range of heavy machinery, driving to job sites, performing pre-trip inspections, and coordinating with crew to complete street and utility projects.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent with at least 3 years of experience operating heavy equipment and a valid Class A CDL (tanker endorsement as required).

Qualifications

• Must read at the tenth grade reading level.
• Three (3) years of experience in the operation of heavy maintenance and construction equipment; City of Toledo employees may substitute 2,080 hours of alternate/assist/training hours.
• Must successfully pass required skills test for the position to be eligible for selection.

Responsibilities

• Hauls and drives equipment, crew and materials to and from work areas.
• Assists in setting up operation.
• Operates and maintains multiple pieces of heavy equipment including loaders, backhoes, graders, excavators, dozers, and street repair equipment.
• Inspects tools and equipment before, during and after operation; performs basic maintenance and repairs as needed.
• Reads maps/atlases to locate work sites and communicates with crew.
