Job summary

Douglas County Government (CO) seeks a capable operator to maintain and run county vehicles and heavy equipment for road maintenance. The role includes pothole repairs, concrete and asphalt work, and roadside infrastructure tasks, with readiness to respond to blizzards and other emergencies.

A High School Diploma or GED is required, with CDL Class B and Flagger Certification preferred or required upon hire. Training will be provided as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required. One year education or experience in highway maintenance or equipment operation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operates equipment including pickups, trucks, loaders, rollers, snowplows, and other maintenance equipment.
• Performs road maintenance tasks such as pothole repair, concrete/asphalt work, culvert and bridge maintenance.
• Responds to emergencies (blizzards, fires, floods, disasters).
• Performs snow/ice removal and applies anti-icing/deicing materials.
• Assists with traffic control signage and flagging during construction.
• Performs daily inspections on equipment and vehicles.
