Job summary

Douglas County Public Works is seeking a full-time equipment operator to support road maintenance and repair efforts. The role involves operating loader/backhoe and other light to medium equipment, performing routine maintenance, and ensuring safety during operations on County roads.

Required experience includes at least one year operating road maintenance equipment, with a strong emphasis on safety and timely communication.

Qualifications

• One year of experience operating road maintenance equipment is preferred.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and road maintenance practices.
• Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form.

Responsibilities

• Operate loader to load trucks with materials and support road repair projects.
• Operate light to medium equipment (dump trucks, snow plows, water trucks) and perform pre-trip inspections.
• Perform minor repairs and maintenance on equipment as needed.
• Interact professionally with employees, contractors, vendors and the public.
