Job summary

The Douglas County Water Authority seeks an Equipment Operator I to perform skilled operation of medium to heavy construction equipment and related maintenance tasks. The role requires on-call availability and may require leading others in the absence of a foreman.

You will operate trucks and loaders, perform basic servicing, and help set up job sites while maintaining records and adhering to safety practices in a demanding outdoor environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED and two years of experience operating automotive and construction equipment.
• Valid Georgia driver’s license and satisfactory MVR.
• Georgia Class A CDL with Manual Transmission Endorsement preferred.
• Confined Spaces certificate.
• Department of Transportation Flagger certificate.
• Trench Excavation certificate.

Responsibilities

• Operates stake body, panel, and dump trucks to move personnel, equipment, and materials.
• Operates winch truck to transport, load, and unload large and/or heavy objects.
• Operates skid steer/compact track loader with landscape or mowing attachments.
• Prepares simple records and performs equipment servicing and minor maintenance operations.
• Performs preventative maintenance and upkeep of trucks and other equipment.
• Performs manual labor when needed.
• Sets job sites up for construction.
• Acts as lead worker in the absence of the Construction/Maintenance Foreman.
• Performs other related duties as required/assigned.
