Job summary

Douglas County Public Works is seeking full-time road maintenance equipment operators to operate loaders, backhoes and other heavy equipment on county roads. The role includes routine maintenance, pre-trip inspections and ensuring safe operation in all weather and traffic conditions.

Qualified candidates will have a valid Oregon Class A CDL with tank and air brake endorsements and at least one year of experience operating road maintenance equipment.

Qualifications

• One year experience operating road maintenance equipment.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and traffic rules governing operation of motor vehicles and equipment on public roads.
• Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form; ability to estimate time and materials.

Responsibilities

• Operate loader to load trucks with materials and backhoe for ditch cleaning and culvert projects.
• Operate light to medium equipment (dump trucks with trailers, snow plows, water truck, roller); load and transport equipment and materials; perform pre-trip inspections.
• Perform minor repairs and routine maintenance on assigned equipment.
