Job summary

The City of Sunrise is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to drive heavy-duty trucks and operate a variety of construction equipment on streets, sidewalks, and drainage projects. You will support maintenance programs, perform routine servicing, and assist with traffic control and records documentation.

Applicants should have a Florida Class A CDL, a high school diploma or GED, and substantial experience in street/ drainage work.

Qualifications

• High school or vocational school diploma or GED.
• Supplemental college related coursework preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain a range of heavy equipment and trucks on city projects.
• Transport materials and tools to job sites and ensure safety in traffic zones.
• Perform routine maintenance checks and report needed repairs.
• Maintain records of work performed and comply with safety regulations.
• Install temporary traffic controls and protect workers and the public.
• Be available for emergency calls when needed for city operations.
