Job summary

The City of Sunrise is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to maintain streets, sidewalks, and drainage systems. You will operate tandem dump trucks, loaders, backhoes, and related machinery on city property and rights-of-way.

Applicants must have a Florida Class A CDL with a clean driving record and a strong commitment to safety and teamwork. The job supports an active outdoor work environment and occasional emergency response responsibilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required or equivalent.
• Experience with street, sidewalk, and drainage work preferred.
• Valid Florida Class A CDL with a good driving record required.

Responsibilities

• Operates a variety of heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
• Transports materials and equipment to and from job sites.
• Performs routine maintenance checks and basic servicing.
• Maintains accurate records of work performed and reports issues.
• Installs and maintains temporary traffic controls as needed.
• Responds to emergency calls and supports city infrastructure work.
