FirstEnergy Corp in Greensburg, PA is seeking an Engineer III for civil/mining transmission projects. You will generate and evaluate designs for transmission line infrastructure, perform pre-engineering field reviews, and coordinate with design engineers and field staff to scope work.

The role requires a BS in Civil or Mining Engineering (ABET) with FE/PE preferred, 3+ years experience, and ability to travel to multiple company locations. Strong analytical and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil or Mining Engineering (ABET) required; PE license or compatible alternatives acceptable.
• FE certificate preferred.
• Mining and blasting experience preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of engineering experience.
• Knowledge of electric transmission system and reliability standards preferred.
• Knowledge of NESC, NERC, and RF standards and policies preferred.
• Strong problem analysis and good judgment essential.
• Ability to manage diverse projects with schedule, cost and budget control.
• Strong interpersonal and independent/collaborative work skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to present to management.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD; office and field work capable.
• Willing to travel to company locations (overnight as needed).

Responsabilités

• Generate and maintain a current list of potential transmission projects.
• Conduct technical engineering reviews and develop civil designs for transmission line infrastructure.
• Prioritize projects based on performance, outage history, and customers impacted.
• Lead and/or support transmission tower foundation inspections and restorations.
• Present projects to upper management for consideration and funding.
• Pre-engineering field reviews; interact with design engineers and field personnel.
• Perform periodic quality control field inspections.
• Coordinate and schedule project meetings with internal and external sources.
• Investigate line operations, causes and remedies to prevent recurrence.
• Interface with NATF, EPRI and other external entities as needed.
• Conduct tests and inspections to evaluate quality or performance.
• Develop and implement technical process/project improvements with field personnel.
• Maintain safe workplace; deliver quality work within deadlines.
• Mentor Rotational Engineers and Co-Ops entering the department.
