Job summary

FirstEnergy Corp is seeking a Scoping & Estimating Engineer to develop project scopes and estimates for Transmission Line and Substation projects. Located in Greensburg, PA or Reading, PA, the role works with engineers, drafters, and designers to deliver accurate scopes and estimates.

The candidate will analyze technical documents, consider materials and labor, manage multiple tasks, and travel as needed across the service territory, while upholding FE safety standards and quality control.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree required.
• PE license or ABET engineering technology degree acceptable with advanced degree.
• FE certificate preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of engineering experience.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents.
• Willingness to travel across the service area.

Responsibilities

• Develop conceptual estimates for transmission and substation projects.
• Estimates include materials, construction labor/time and equipment.
• Clarify scope items and resolve issues from available information.
• Document risks and gray areas to promote timely completion.
• Plan and specify materials, plan resources and duration with Sponsors.
• Review estimates for adequacy and feasibility; initiate revisions as needed.
• Ensure all designs meet FirstEnergy standards and safety requirements.
• Support continuous improvement of estimating tools and processes.
