Job summary

Gotion Inc. in Manteno, IL is seeking an Equipment Engineer to install, optimize, and maintain advanced manufacturing equipment for battery production.

You will work in a bilingual (English & Chinese) setting with vendors, production teams, and engineers to drive efficiency and reliability across high-tech production lines. The role requires hands-on troubleshooting, strong automation/process engineering skills, and a proactive approach to improving yield and reducing downtime.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
• 2+ years of experience in manufacturing with hands-on exposure to automated equipment.
• Proven expertise in installation, commissioning, troubleshooting and maintenance of industrial machinery.
• Strong knowledge of PLC, HMI, sensors, servo systems, and industrial automation.
• Experience with troubleshooting control systems, mechanical components, and electrical systems.
• Proficiency in CAD software for equipment design review and modification.
• Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and process optimization experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead installation, commissioning, and validation of equipment for electrode manufacturing and packaging.
• Ensure equipment meets process specs, operational requirements, and safety standards.
• Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to troubleshoot technical challenges during installation.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to maximize production efficiency.
• Perform root cause analysis for equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
• Provide on-site and remote support for emergency repairs with cross-functional teams.
• Drive automation enhancements and technical upgrades to increase throughput and reduce costs.
• Analyze equipment performance data and optimize system settings for yield and stability.
• Identify and implement best practices in predictive maintenance and process control.
• Provide hands-on support to production and maintenance teams for complex machinery.
• Develop and lead training sessions to upskill operators and technicians.
• Coordinate with manufacturers, suppliers, and engineering teams on design modifications.
• Work with process engineers, quality teams, and production managers to align equipment performance with goals.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, IATF16949, and EHS regulations.
• Participate in EHS initiatives and conduct risk assessments for high-voltage, high-temp, and chemical-handling processes.
