Job summary

Silent-Aire, a Johnson Controls company, seeks an Equipment Designer II in Gilbert, AZ to develop and manage 3D models, drawings, and BOMs for custom HVAC and modular infrastructure. You will work with Design Engineers, Manufacturing, and Operations to ensure manufacturability and design intent throughout the project lifecycle.

The role emphasizes design revisions, problem resolution, and collaboration across teams to support high-precision data center solutions.

Qualifications

• Associate degree, diploma, or technical certification in Mechanical Design or related field.
• 6+ years of experience with mechanical equipment in manufacturing.
• Understanding of sheet metal design and fabrication processes.
• Knowledge of material selection and manufacturing methods.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain detailed 3D models, fabrication drawings, assemblies, and engineering documentation for HVAC equipment and modular infrastructure.
• Translate concepts, specs, and requirements into manufacturable designs.
• Collaborate with Design Engineers, Project Engineers, Manufacturing, and Operations for project execution.
• Develop and maintain BOMs, assembly drawings, and technical documentation.
• Ensure drawing accuracy, revision control, and compliance with standards.
• Perform tolerance reviews, fit-up checks, and manufacturability assessments.
• Lead design reviews and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provide engineering support for manufacturing, prototyping, and testing.
