Job summary

Johnson Controls, through its Silent-Aire division, seeks an Equipment Designer/Drafter to create and manage 2D/3D models for data-centre equipment projects. You will translate concepts into accurate engineering drawings, ensuring adherence to ASME Y14 and quality standards.

The role supports engineers, collaborates with project teams, and contributes to manufacturability improvements across assemblies and BOMs. Hybrid work options may be available.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of CAD drafting or design experience.
• Proficiency in Inventor and Creo.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
• Knowledge of dimensioning, tolerancing, and drafting standards (GD&T).
• Understanding of materials, fabrication methods, or construction practices.

Responsibilities

• Produce and revise 2D drawings and 3D models using CAD software (Inventor, Creo, Revit or similar).
• Interpret sketches, specifications, and notes to develop technical documentation.
• Collaborate with engineers and designers to capture design intent.
• Maintain drawing accuracy, version control, and drafting standards (ASME Y14).
• Prepare layouts, assemblies, BOMs, and detail drawings as required.
• Perform basic design calculations or checks for dimensions and tolerances.
• Participate in design reviews and implement feedback.
• Support development of manufacturing or fabrication packages.
• Identify issues and propose manufacturability improvements.
• Ensure compliance with company standards and codes.
