Job summary

Silent-Aire, a division of Johnson Controls, is seeking an Equipment Designer/Drafter to create, modify, and manage detailed 2D and 3D models for data center equipment. You will translate concepts into accurate drawings while ensuring compliance with industry standards and internal quality requirements.

You will collaborate with engineers and project managers to develop layouts, BOMs, and fabrication packages, performing basic design checks and contributing to manufacturability improvements.

Qualifications

• College diploma in mechanical engineering design and drafting technology.
• 2–5 years of CAD drafting or design experience.
• 2-5 years supporting mechanical products and assemblies in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in Inventor and Creo.
• Strong dimensional tolerancing and drafting standards knowledge (GD&T).
• Ability to read technical drawings and blueprints.
• Knowledge of materials, fabrication methods, manufacturing.
• Detail-oriented with minimal supervision.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Produce and revise 2D drawings and 3D models using CAD software such as Inventor and Creo.
• Interpret sketches, specs, and design notes into accurate documentation.
• Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and designers to capture design intent.
• Maintain drawing accuracy with version control and drafting standards ASME Y14.
• Prepare layouts, assemblies, BOMs, and detail drawings.
• Perform basic design calculations or checks for dimensions and tolerances.
• Participate in design reviews and implement feedback.
• Support development of manufacturing or fabrication packages.
• Identify design issues and propose manufacturability solutions.
• Ensure work complies with company standards and project requirements.
