Job summary

PetVet Care Centers’ Hagyard Equine Medical Institute in Lexington, Kentucky, seeks a Horse Handler (Recovery Focus) to assist in medical care and barn tech duties. Qualifications

• Applicants must be 18 years of age or older to be considered for this position.
• Comfortability and previous experience holding and restraining horses.

Responsibilities

• Assist with induction and recovery of patients in preparation for and following surgery.
• Hold/restrain horses for pre-operative and post-operative examinations (i.e. x-rays, treatments, bone scans, euthanasia, emergency surgeries, etc.).
• Assist other personnel with patient handling.
• Assist with Trailer Loading and unloading of patients.
• Groom horses prior to discharge; apply ice boots; maintain stock of feed, hay and straw.
• Follow infectious disease procedures as defined by Hagyard protocol; keep stalls clean and disinfected.
