The Epilepsy Program Coordinator provides professional, clinical nursing, and technical knowledge, skills, and expertise for coordinating epilepsy patient care across disciplines. Responsibilities include researching, developing, and applying evidence-based practices in clinical care, patient and staff education, and ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, treatment protocols, and overall care plans. Responsibilities
  • Coordinate medical care in the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit.
  • Assist patients and families in understanding diagnoses, epilepsy care, testing options, and hospital procedures. Guide them through the treatment process.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for multidisciplinary teams and physicians, collaborating with support departments and scheduling surgeries.
  • Perform utilization reviews, including insurance authorizations and procurement of medications and equipment.
  • Support research efforts by screening potential study participants for eligibility.
  • Participate in the Comprehensive Epilepsy Program to meet Neuroscience Institute needs.
Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing

Experience: 3-5 years in clinical healthcare (acute or hospital), pediatric experience preferred

Licenses & Certifications: BLS, PALS (American Heart Association), RN license in Arkansas, Mississippi, or Tennessee

Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of epilepsy care, data management, and clinical decision-making
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including word processing and spreadsheets
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, organize multiple tasks, and exercise judgment
  • Understanding of research principles and policies
  • Advanced problem-solving skills
Additional Information

This position does not include supervisory responsibilities. Physical demands include mobility activities and visual acuity for data analysis. Conditions are typical of general office environments.
