Job summary

Merck seeks 2027 summer interns for the BARDS Epidemiology and RWE Capabilities & Analytics team, with locations in West Point, Upper Gwynedd, Rahway, and Boston. Internships run 10–12 weeks, starting May/June 2027, featuring projects in epidemiology, data science, and AI/ML methods.

Interns will present research in professional forums, attend departmental meetings, and collaborate across functions to gain broad industry exposure.

Qualifications

Candidates must be a currently enrolled graduate student pursuing a PhD in epidemiology, biostatistics, public health, data science, biomedical informatics, or related field; or a PharmD with relevant training in epidemiology.
Must have completed at least 2 graduate semesters by May 30, 2027; or be pursuing PharmD with epidemiology training by May 30, 2027.

Responsibilities

Summarize background information via targeted literature review.
Conduct data analysis in real-world health data sources to understand data quality and disease patterns.
Contribute to protocol development and manuscript writing.
Develop and update visualization tools (dashboards, geospatial visuals) of real-world data.
Communicate findings to internal/external audiences.
