Job summary

Merck invites 2027 summer interns to join the BARDS Epidemiology and RWE Capabilities & Analytics teams for 10–12 weeks of hands-on projects designed to develop skills in epidemiology, biostatistics, and data science. You will work on real-world data analyses, contribute to protocol development, and present findings in internal or external forums.

Locations include Boston, MA, with a hybrid work arrangement.

Qualifications

• Candidates must be enrolled graduate students pursuing a PhD or PharmD with epidemiology training by May 2027.
• Completion of at least 2 graduate semesters by May 2027.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a multi-functional team.

Responsibilities

• Summarize background via targeted literature reviews.
• Analyze real-world health data to understand data quality and patterns.
• Develop and validate prediction models.
• Summarize and interpret study results.
• Contribute to protocol development and manuscript writing.
• Develop visualizations (dashboards, geospatial visuals) of real-world data.
• Explain AI/ML methods to stakeholders.
