GBMC is seeking a skilled Medical Billing Specialist to join our finance team. The role focuses on accurate claim submission, denials management, and effective patient account resolution using Epic and standard billing software.

Candidates should have 2+ years of medical billing experience, strong knowledge of Medicare/Private payer rules, and excellent communication with patients and insurers. This on-site position offers professional growth within a collaborative hospital environment.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of medical billing and insurance processes.
• Experience with Medicare, Blue Cross, Medical Assistance, Commercial insurance, and HMO carriers.
• Strong collection skills and claims follow-up.
• Proficient in EMR and Microsoft Office.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with patients, families, insurers and providers.
• Ability to investigate issues and resolve billing problems under pressure.
• Multi-tasking and deadline-driven with accurate handling of multiple claims.

Responsibilities

• Manage Epic work queues daily to ensure accurate billing and expedient claims follow-up.
• Submit claims in a timely manner within assigned financial classes.
• Follow up on claims and investigate denials or rejections.
• Identify and prepare appeals; manage secondary billing and unpaid balances to resolution.
• Post payments to patient accounts and reconcile underpayments/overpayments.
• Respond to inquiries via e-mail, phone, mail, or in person.
• Maintain detailed billing records for auditing and HIPAA compliance.
• Participate in meetings with Provider Reps to resolve denial discrepancies.
