Crossing Rivers Health is seeking an Insurance Billing Specialist to join our fiscal team. This full-time daytime role handles claim edits, submissions through EPIC, and follow-up with payers to ensure timely payments.

The ideal candidate has 1–2 years of healthcare billing experience, EPIC know-how, and proficiency in Microsoft Office. You will collaborate across departments to resolve denials, update patient data, and assist patients with financial obligations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree preferred, field of study: business related.
• 1–2 years of healthcare billing experience preferred.
• 1–2 years of EPIC experience preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Reviews, edits, and corrects claims for accuracy and readiness in EPIC.
• Prepares and submits claims to insurance carriers and intermediaries.
• Coordinates with departments to release held claims within timely filing limits.
• Performs follow-up on unpaid claims via calls or payer portals.
• Responds to routine patient and insurer inquiries and issues.
• Researches denials/non-covered charges and re-submits or appeals as necessary.
• Reviews late charges for re-billing or adjustments as necessary.
• Reviews insurance eligibility or coverage changes to ensure accuracy and rebill claims when necessary.
• Updates patient demographics and/or insurance information.
• Reviews accounts with insurance credit balances and determines if refunds or actions are needed.
• Accommodates patient requests and educates on financial responsibilities, accepting payments and setting up plans.
• Performs other duties as assigned to support department and organization.
