The role you’ll contribute:

The Epic Clinical Senior Analyst has a comprehensive understanding of system build and implementation, the ability to analyze and understand business problems, and the knowledge to make solution recommendations that meet organizational goals of maintaining clinical and business systems. They provide a secure, effective, integrated patient care delivery system that continually improves outcomes, reduces costs, increases efficiency, and enhances patients’ experiences. Primary responsibilities include collaborating with clinicians and end users of the system to design, build, test, train, implement, evaluate, and maintain Epic and other associated systems.

The Epic Clinical Senior Analyst must utilize knowledge of clinical practice, computer science, and information technology to manage data and determine components suitable for building while maintaining professional standards. They are responsible for coordinating with physicians and end users in analyzing workflows, performing gap analysis, identifying process changes, and developing future workflows during new solutions or functionality implementation. Effective communication with hospital leadership, clinicians, physicians, and ancillary staff is essential.

  • Demonstrates advanced functional knowledge of Epic, third-party solutions, and Microsoft products.
  • Leads the Clinical Applications Team, developing electronic documentation solutions supporting clinical workflows.
  • Builds collaborative relationships with stakeholders; captures business & technical requirements.
  • Assesses workflows, identifies gaps, and develops future workflows for new solutions.
  • Designs, builds, and configures within Epic modules and supporting applications; maintains system documentation.
  • Develops and executes test scripts for workflow testing; documents outcomes.
  • Stays current on industry trends and updates; ensures software modifications meet Epic specifications.
  • Follows standards for software control, QA, and releases; documents upgrades and provides training if needed.
  • Troubleshoots issues, recommends resolutions.
  • Participates in or leads projects; communicates project status and issues.
  • Breaks down complex problems; makes logical conclusions and considers alternative approaches.
  • Provides guidance to other analysts and project managers.
  • Participates in meetings; reports on progress and barriers.
  • Seeks continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Supports organizational change and participates in on-call support for 24/7 environment.

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

  • College Degree or 5+ years relevant experience in business, IS, or healthcare.
  • Participation in ongoing education, conferences, or professional organizations.
  • Experience communicating complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • 5+ years of clinical or technical background preferred.
  • EMR application/implementation experience preferred.
  • Epic Certification or ability to complete within 3 months of classes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of clinical/technical workflows.
  • Ability to work independently, learn rapidly, and maintain current certifications.
  • Epic Clinical Documentation certification highly preferred.
  • MyChart Bedside application experience preferred.
