Job summary

GBMC HealthCare in Towson, MD is seeking a billing specialist to handle all billing and collection tasks within assigned financial classes under direct supervision. You will ensure timely submission and follow-up of claims, post payments in EPIC, and manage eligibility, verification and authorization requests as needed.

Requirements include a high school diploma (associate degree preferred), two years of medical billing experience, one year with electronic billing, and Epic experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree preferred.
• Two years of medical billing experience and one year experience with electronic billing.
• Epic experience desired.

Responsibilities

• Manage Epic work queues daily to ensure accurate billing and expedient claims follow-up.
• Submit claims timely within assigned financial classes and follow up on unpaid claims.
• Investigate claim denials or rejections and prepare appeals.
• Enter and post payments to patient accounts and reconcile under/overpayments.
• Maintain detailed billing records for audits and compliance.
