Job summary

GBMC HealthCare is seeking a Billing Specialist for Medicaid/Medicare at Gilchrist Hunt Valley. Under direct supervision, you will handle all billing and collection functions, submit claims timely and follow up, and post payments in EPIC.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate’s degree preferred.
• Two years of medical billing experience and one year experience with electronic billing.
• Epic experience desired.

Responsibilities

• Manage assigned Epic work queues daily to ensure accurate billing and expedient claims follow-up.
• Investigate claim denials or rejections and resolve issues.
• Enter and post payments to patient accounts based on remittance advice.
• Respond to patient and third-party payor inquiries via e-mail, phone, or mail.
• Prepare and submit appeals for denied claims and maintain documentation for audits.
