Job summary

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is seeking an Environmental Specialist II to perform in situ measurements, collect samples, and conduct computer modeling of water quality parameters for shellfish areas.

You will prepare technical reports, establish sampling stations, evaluate pollution sources, and assist statewide districts in shoreline surveys and data analyses, with occasional travel and compliance with state regulations.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent and 1 year experience in environmental protection, regulation, public health, or related fields.
• Electronically verifiable driving license (Class E).
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent may substitute experience.

Responsibilities

• Determine monitoring programs and perform in situ measurements of water quality and collect samples.
• Conduct modeling of environmental water quality parameters for shellfish areas.
• Prepare technical reports and charts for supervision review.
• Maintain field instruments, vehicles, and office records.
• Attend meetings and reviews related to water quality and shellfish.
