Job summary

Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Division of Aquaculture, is seeking an Environmental Specialist II in Florida to inspect shellfish facilities for license certification. The individual will maintain FDA State Standardization certification and engage in moderate travel as part of regulatory compliance and public health protection.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent plus one year of experience in environmental protection, regulation, public health, food safety, physical/natural sciences, agriculture, or engineering; OR six months
• Valid Class E Driver License required
• Knowledge of molluscan shellfish public health protection and aseptic sample collection techniques
• Knowledge of National Shellfish Sanitation Program Model Ordinance and Florida Administrative Code Rule 5L-1
• Ability to maintain FDA State Standardization certification within six months of appointment
• Ability to communicate clearly, work independently and travel as needed
