Job summary

Office of State Human Resources, Temporary Solutions division, is seeking an Environmental Technician I (S) to support well testing and sampling across the state of North Carolina. This temporary role involves field sampling and coordinating with a two-person team, with opportunities to gain valuable environmental testing experience.

Qualifications

This temporary position is located at 610 East Center Avenue - Iredell County, with the Department of Environmental Quality.

Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $18.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).

This posting is for 2 positions.

The Division has numerous sites with private wells that require sampling due to both PFAS and Non-PFAS contamination in their drinking water wells. For health and safety policy reasons, we must have two staff conduct chemical testing together.

This temporary position would be involved in the well testing aspect of this work. The position would assist in conducting well testing at various residences across the state. Sampling trips would be long day trips to the site for sampling and then delivery of samples to the laboratory.

Some experience in the environmental field is a plus. Perfect opportunity to gain valuable experience for further environmental career opportunities.

Associate’s degree in one of the agricultural, biological, engineering, environmental or natural resource sciences or a closely related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
