Job summary

This temporary position is located at 217 West Jones Street - Wake County, with the Department of Environmental Quality.


**Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $33.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).**


Effective July 1, 2025, candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they have the minimum education and experience listed from the class specification. This position will assist in managing Recycling Infrastructure Grant Funds, available through funding from EPA’s Hurricane Helene Supplemental Appropriation for Hazardous Waste and Solid Waste Management.


Responsibilities include conducting research, surveying local government recycling infrastructure needs, promoting the Recycling Infrastructure Funding opportunity, assisting with applications for funding, managing pass-through grant contracts, scoping potential grant projects, ensuring grantee reporting requirements are met, supporting reimbursement processes, engaging with current and prospective grantees, planning and hosting disaster debris workshops, creating grant process resources, and ensuring projects are eligible activities and adhere to all applicable pass-through funding requirements.


Travel to western North Carolina will be required.


Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and three (3) years progressively responsible experience related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
