Job summary

Description of Work

This position is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain laboratory and facility equipment and for performing general maintenance for four buildings encompassing 87,000 square feet including generators, chillers, boilers, and other related facilities located at the Department of Environmental Quality’s Water Science Laboratory and office complex located at the Reedy Creek Road Complex. Reedy Creek is the home of the Raleigh Regional Office, Division of Air Quality’s Ambient Monitoring Lab, and the Water Science Branch in the Division of Water Resources and houses the division's EPA-certified science laboratory.

The Division of Facilities, Health and Safety Services: This Section is responsible for building facility maintenance and repairs which includes responsibility for two major buildings(Archdale and Green Square), four buildings located along Reedy Creek Road Complex, Division of Coastal Management in Morehead City with three district offices, Division of Marine Fisheries in Morehead City, fixed assets, vehicles, over 200 easement stewardship sites, and all leases related to property inclusive of seven regional offices in Asheville, Raleigh, Fayetteville, Mooresville, Winston-Salem, Wilmington, and Washington.

Other Key Responsibilities:
  • Implementing a preventative maintenance program.
  • Ordering and maintaining a prescribed load listing of supplies and for maintaining stock control procedures.
  • Performs daily morning building and grounds inspections.
  • Responsible for monitoring our work order system, responding to requests in a timely fashion, as well as identifying, isolating, and rectifying faults.
  • Provides limited contract oversight for housekeeping, grounds, and vendor maintenance contracts.
Recruitment Range:

$41,206 - $47,000
