Job summary

Compost Crew, Inc., a Benefit Corporation, seeks an Environmental Technician to support composting operations at our Rockville outposts. You will help process food scraps into nutrient-rich compost and learn to operate farm equipment and commercial vehicles.

This full-time, on-site role offers comprehensive benefits and a starting wage of $19-$20 per hour, with typical hours from 9 am to 5 pm and occasional overtime, plus opportunities to grow in sustainability-focused work.

Qualifications

• Proficient in English (reading/writing).
• Able to lift 55 pounds.
• Willingness to learn to operate farm and industrial equipment.
• DOT medical card and good driving record required.

Responsibilities

• Perform composting operations at Compost Outposts per SOPs.
• Set up/breakdown facilities and complete decontamination procedures.
• Monitor feedstocks, temperatures, moisture, and other metrics.
• Operate and learn maintenance for equipment (FEL, skid-steer, sifter, conveyors).
• Coordinate composting activities, applications, and hauling as needed.
• Attend training and stay up-to-date on composting practices.
