Job summary

Compost Crew, a Maryland-based organics recycling company, seeks a part-time Environmental Technician to support composting operations at our Frederick Outpost. You will work with a team turning food scraps into quality compost, while developing technical and environmental skills.

This role runs 25 hours per week, typically 12-5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Starting pay is $19–$20 per hour, with hands-on training and growth opportunities in a supportive environment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor temperature and moisture; adjust as directed.
• Learn to operate composting machinery and perform basic maintenance.
• Keep site clean, organized, and log operational records per procedures.
• Perform daily decontamination of food scrap feedstocks.
• Follow safety procedures and report hazards promptly.
• Assist with site improvements and other composting tasks.
• Communicate updates to supervisors.
