Job summary

General Motors is seeking an Environmental Supervisor at the Lansing Grand River site to lead environmental oversight and promote waste and water compliance across the plant. You will drive programs, mentor a team, and partner with regulatory agencies to ensure sustainable operations.

This role involves cross-functional collaboration, a focus on continuous improvement, and travel between GM Lansing sites to share best practices while advancing GM's Zero Emissions vision.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain environmental stewardship program strategies to improve community impact.
• Engage with local regulatory agencies.
• Develop creative solutions to environmental challenges.
• Utilize technology to maintain environmental management systems.
• Monitor environmental parameters and recommend continuous improvement.
• Support system designs that protect the environment and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Understand plant processes and wastewater/storm water management to enable decision-making.
• Interface with business partners to prepare regulatory documents and reports.
• Lead and mentor environmental professionals.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering or related field

5+ years' experience in Air Permitting & Storm Water Permitting

Experience in environmental engineering at a manufacturing operation

Demonstrated ability to execute projects

Excellent communication, negotiation, and collaboration skills

Willingness to travel between facilities

People leadership and coaching capability
