Job summary

Burns & McDonnell seeks an Environmental Studies Business Line Lead to drive strategic growth, financial performance, and market leadership. You will partner with the Technical Service Leader to align environmental planning, NEPA compliance, and project development with national objectives.

You will shape business plans, lead major pursuits, and optimize delivery through digital workflows across multiple markets while mentoring leaders and building client relationships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in engineering, construction management or related field.
• 17 years of applicable experience required.
• Experience in environmental consulting, planning, permitting, or infrastructure development with business development and leadership success preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, attention to detail.
• Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments and work overtime on short notice.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and project management software.

Responsibilities

• Monitor performance across NEPA documentation, environmental planning, siting and routing, and environmental impact analysis.
• Develop annual business plans and improve delivery efficiency through digital and AI-enabled workflows.
• Develop growth strategies for multiple markets and position Environmental Studies as a premier practice.
• Lead major pursuits and capture planning efforts; drive market adoption of offerings.
• Forecast workforce demand and secure resources for growth objectives.
• Balance workloads across regional offices to maximize resource effectiveness.
• Align teams around common objectives and provide strategic direction for investments.
• Build strategic client relationships and advise on environmental planning and permitting challenges.
• Mentor future leaders and support succession planning; foster innovation via new services.
